HomeMy WebLinkAboutA005 - Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation City of AMES, Iowa 50010 (515) 232-6210 DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Division of Planning March 18, 1976 Honorable Lee Fellinger, Mayor Members of City Council Administration Building Ames, Iowa 50010 RE: Mary Carr, et al. , request for rezoning of property bounded by South Washington Avenue, South Third Street and South Fourth Street. Honorable Mayor and Members of City Council: The Planning and Zoning Commission during its meeting of March 12, 1976, considered a request for change of zoning from C-2 to R-4 for the above named petitioner and location, and took the following action: The Planning and Zoning Commission recommends that the area be rezoned to R-4 with consideration of going to R-3 or R-2 as quickly as possible for the entire area. The motion made by Nichol, seconded by Riis, was voted on as follows: AYES: Cholvin, Thurston, Nichol, Shaughnessy, Shank, Riis. NAYS: None. ABSENT: Lex. The Commission expressed concern about Mrs. Lokken's investment in the area and suggested that, perhaps, a land swap could be worked out with city-owned property in front of Gulliver's, which is zoned C-2. The Commission also encouraged the -planning staff to continue to work with the residents of the area in the development of zoning plans. Respectfully, Patrick J.
