AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES BY
REPEALING SECTIONS 16-1022 AND 16-1025 THEREOF AND ENACTING NEW
SECTIONS 16-1022 AND 16-1025 FOR THE PURPOSE OF CHANGING THE
RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR USE OF THE APPLES SANITARY LAND FILL.
BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of
Ames , Iowa:
Section 1. That the Municipal Code of the City of Ames
be and the same is hereby amended by repealing Sections 16-1022
and 16-1025 thereof as heretofore existing and enacting new
:Sections 16-1022 and 16-1025 as follows :
Sec. 16-1022. Sanitary land .fill areas established;
unlawful to use other areas : custodian.
There is hereby established sanitary land
fill areas , at such place or places as the
city council upon the recommendation of the
city manager may direct, where all garbage
and refuse originating within the corporate
limits of the city shall. be deposited under
the supervision of the custodian of the area.
It shall be unlawful to deposit such material
in any other place. The custodian of the
area may be named as a special police officer
or deputy sheriff, but he shall not be
eligible to participate in the health and
retirement system of the police department
of the city. The sanitary land fill areas
are for the exclusive use of residents of
the incorporated limits of the City of Ames
and residents of areas under the jurisdiction
of political subdivisions which have by
contract with and license from the City of
Ames obtained the right to use the land fill
areas . Entrance to the land fill areas may
be refused to any and all other persons.
Sec. 16-1025 . Hours of dumping at disposal sites
The hours when dumping of garbage and
refuse at the disposal sites will be permitted
shall be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m, on Mondays through
Saturdays . However, on special occasions the
city manager, after reasonable notice to the
public, may open the land fill for additional
hours for dumping. Any dumping at any other
times is prohibited.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3 . This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect frora and after its passage and publication as required by
law.
