HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Mechanical Code fl i� S � ORDINANCE NO. 2,438 f� { 1 AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT BY REFERENCE A COMPLETE MECHANICAL CODE TO 1f REGULATE THE INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF HEATING, VENTILATING, COMFORT COOFING AND REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS , PROVIDING FOR THE ISS- UANCE OF PERMITS , COLLECTION OF FEES AND PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS .I i �} BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, } IOWA: Section 1. Short title. This ordinance shall be known as the City of Ames, Iowa, Mechanical Code, and may be cited as l such, and will be referred to herein as "this ordinance" . I ! Section 2. Adoption of Mechanical Code. Pursuant to pubs lished notice and public hearing , as required by law, the Uniform 41 Mechanical Code, 1970 Edition, all appendices , tables and charts therein, and all provisions of the Uniform Mechanical Code Stand- ards , 1970 Edition as publi6hed by the International Conference }; of Building Officials and commonly known as the Uniform Mechanical 4 Code , are hereby adopted in full , except for such portions as may ; hereinafter be deleted, modified or amended. { An official copy of the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1970 } } Edition, and Uniform Mechanical Code Standards , 1970 Edition , as adopted, and a certified copy of this ordinance are on file in the Office of the City Clerk. Section 3. Amendments , modifications , additions , and j� deletions . The following amendments , modifications , additions , ±} and deletions to the Uniform Mechanical Code , 1970 Edition, are fhereby made : f t �} (a) Section 202 , second paragraph is amended to } i read" $100. 00" instead of " $500. 00" , and "30 days" 3� instead of six months . f� } {! (b) Section 304 is deleted and the following is { substituted : f Sec. 304 . Any person desiring a permit re- quired by this Code, shall , at the time of I{ filing an application therefore, pay a fee as required by this section. } (1) For the installation or relocation of i� any gas , liquid or solid fuel , hot air furnace , unit heater , circulating heater , hot water ` i I boiler or burner. . . . . . . . . . . $4 . 00. i } (2) For replacement of the above. . . . . $2. 00 . (3) For the installation or relocation of each ' commercial type incinerator. . . . . . . . . . . $4. 00. } (4) For the installation or relocation of ' f each domestic type incinerator. . . . . . . . $4 . 00. (5) Gas or liquid fuel piping , first opening } . . . . . $2. 00 { j (6) Each additional opening or appliance 1 . . . . . $ . 50. i (c) Section 2202 , Gas Piping , item 2 is amended to read " 3 feet" instead of six feet. I� ' f ►i }i f� s� -2- { Section 4 . Conflict with state laws . Nothing in this ordinance or in the Uniform Mechanical Code , as adopted, shall bel construed to be in conflict with the laws of the State of Iowa. 11 In the event of such conflict, the State Law shall prevail. 11 `li Section 5. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordin- ances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are here- by repealed. f j� Section 6. Saving Clause. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, ! such adjudication shall not effect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any section, provision, or part thereof not adjudged !l� invalid or unconstitutional. i Section 7 . When effective. This ordinance shall be in effect after its final passage, approval , and publication as provided by law. �!
