According to my notes and recollection, the ordinance amending Section 23-1019 was amended and has passed on its second reading. It is , therefore, ready for final reading. met. '„ __,., —e_ 4:, . ei /0/,�/<�)d 2 "S-1 " Ordinance. a. This ordinance has passed on its second reading and held up at my request, primarily to be sure we included all editorial type changes . b. I recommend amendments as follows: (1 ) Caption or title. In the sixth line, change the word "sixteen" to "seventeen. " (2) Section 38-1003. Districts Established. Add following "H-M' District (Hospital-Medical ) " and before " 'C-l ' District (Office and Shop) " the following: " 'R-5' District (Mobile Home Park) . " (3) Section 38-1026. Fences and walls. Amend to permit a fence or wall not exceeding four (4) feet in height in front yards and to include reference to "R-5. " (The provision for the front yard fence was included in the original ordinance and for some reason omitted at the time of codification.) As amended, Section 38-1026 will read: Section 38-1026. Fences and walls. In any "S-1 " , "A-1 " , "R-111 , "R-211, "R-311, "R-411 , "R-511 , "H-M" or "C-l " district, fences and walls which are constructed of any materials or combination, not exceeding six (6) feet in height are permitted within the limits of side and rear yards. (A fence or wall not exceeding four (4) feet in height is permitted within the limits of front yards . ) In the case of retaining walls supporting embankments , the above requirements shall apply only to that part of the wall above ground surface of the retained embankment. In all other districts , fences and walls are permitted not exceeding eight (8) feet in height within the limits of any yards. In cases where any "S-1 ", "A-111, "R-111, "R-211 , "R-311, "R-411, "R-511, "H-M" or "C-l " district abuts any "C-2", "C-311, "C-411, "C-511 , "I-111, "I-2" or "I-3" district, lots immediately abutting said district may have fences and walls not exceeding eight (8) feet in height within the limits of any yard. (4) Section 38-1027. Amend to include "R-5" between "R-4" and "H-M. " Honorable Mayor Smith -2- June 28, 1971 and Council Members (5) Section 38-1033. Amend the chart to include "R-5" (Mobile Home Park) and additional footnotes as follows: (k) Requirements shall be in conformance with Chapter 23 of the Ames Municipal Code. (1 ) Requirements of the "R-4" district shall be applied as a minimum. (6) Section 38-1047. Add "I-l " after "C-4" and before "I-2. " c. As thus amended, this ordinance will be ready for final passage. 3. Upon passage of these two ordinances and the amendment of Chapter 23, Council desires as to "S-l " and mobile homes will have been implemented. JFB/js
