HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Chapter 36 of Municipal Code; Establishing Sewer Service Rates r i ORDINANCE NO. 2367 1� '�AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE VII , CHAPTER #36 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF MIES, IOWA; REPEALING SECTIONS 36-7002, 36- 7003 AND 36-7004 ; ESTABLISHING NEW SECTIONS TO BE NUMBERED 36- 7002 , 36-7003 AND 36-7004 , ESTABLISHING SCHEDULES OF RATES FOR SEWER SERVICE CHARGES BASED UPON WATER CONSUMPTION; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND ES- ; TABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. !I 1 IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES , , I OWA: !� i Section 1. Sections 36-7002 , 36-7003 and 36-7004 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, as hitherto existing are hereby repealed. � Section 2. New sections to be numbered 36-7002, 36-7003 , ;,and 36-7004 are hereby added to the Municipal Code of the City of Ames , Iowa, as follows : I� Sec. 36-7002 . Single units , rates and charges j� established. Each and every lot, parcel of real estate, building or premises , situated within the corporate limits of the city, that is connected with and uses the �i sanitary facilities of the city, or that in any way uses or discharges sanitary sewage, industrial waste, water or other liquid, either directly or indirectly, into the sanitary sewerage system of the city shall pay monthly service charges , rates or rentals to the city in accordance with the following schedule: i First 300 cubic feet of water used in one cycle month-- $0 . 667 per 100 cubic feet. I 1 Next 700 cubic feet of water used in one cycle month-- $0 .38 per 100 cubic feet. t' Next 9 ,000 cubic feet of water used in one cycle month-- . }i $0 .28 per 100 cubic feet. j, Next 90 , OOO cubic feet of water used in one cycle month-- $0 .22 per 100 cubic feet. Next 400 ,000 cubic feet of water used in one cycle month-- . $0 .20 per 100 cubic feet. i 1 All over 500 , 000 cubic feet of water used in one cycle month--$0 .16 per 100 cubic feet. tMinimum charge per thirty (30) days period or part thereof- $2 . 00 . �1 The minimum sewerage service charge applies to every is person discharging waste water or other liquid into the sanitary sewerage systems of the city, although f( no water meter is installed upon his premises . �+ Sec. 36-7003 . Multiple dwellings-mobile home parks , ' rates and charges established. +i Where a single water meter serves a multiple dwelling ` or mobile home park, the minimum charge for sanitary j f '1 I( J( � Z � j� sewage service shall be one collar and fifty cents ($1 . 50) multiplied by the number of dwelling units or mobile home spaces serviced. Thereshall be a monthly allowance of 300 cubic feet of water per unit for which the said minimum charge is paid. Water metered in excess of the j minimum allowance shall be subject to charges for sanitary sewage service in accordance with the rate schedule, j starting at the second step, as established in Sec. 36- II 7002. For the purpose of this section a dwelling unit I{ is defined as a self-contained living facility (i. e. , i including kitchen and bath) such as an apartment or a j space for an independent mobile home. Sec. 36-7004 . Summer beautification rate. j In an attempt to enhance and encourage the beautification of the City of Ames by encouraging increased use of water during summer months for lawn sprinkling, irr- igation and cleansing purposes , the following rate con- cession for sanitary sewage service is established for residential customers. The summer beautification rate �( for a residential customer shall be as set forth in Section 36-7002, except that water usage billed during the summer months , May through October, in excess of the monthly average of water billed during the previous winter, November through April , shall not be assessed for sanitary sewerage service. k� Section 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in }; conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 4 .
