REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT i
HEREWITH AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AME , i

Section 1 . Sections 13-1019 , 13-2018 , 13-2022, 13-2024
and 13-2030 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames , Iowa, as
hitherto existing are hereby repealed.
i
Section 2 . New sections to be numbered 13-1019, 13-2018,
13-2022 , 13-2024 and 13-2030 are hereby added to Chapter #13 of
the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
Sec. 13-1019 . Permit and inspection fees. I
�! Permits are not in force and effect until fees and
inspection charges are paid in accordance with the
�I following schedule for all work done under the pro-

!j visions of this article, except as otherwise noted

(c) Reinspection.
A charge of $2 . 00 shall be made for each reinspection
made necessary by defective work.

(d) Minimum Fee.
There shall be a minimum fee of $20 . 00 for all new
i construction.
Sec. 13-2018. Application for license required;
I examination fee. i

Each applicant for a license, either as an electrical
contractor, journeyman electrician or maintenance
electrician, shall fill out and file with the secre-
tary of the board an application for such license on
fforms furnished by the secretary of the board, and
shall pay at the office of the city clerk an examina-
tion fee of fifteen dollars ($15. 00) for electrical
contractor' s license, fifteen dollars ($15 .00) for
journeyman electrician' s license, and fifteen dollars
($15. 00) for maintenance electrician' s license, and
shall report for examination at the time and place
designated by the board.
Sec. 13-2022 . Notice authorizing license issuance; I
reexamination after failure. t
The board, upon being satisfied as to the competency
i
of the applicant for the license applied for, shall
authorize the secretary of the board to notify the
city clerk of the names, addresses, and license to
be issued to each applicant successfully passing
such examination. If the applicant fails to qualify
upon examination, he may be reexamined after sixty {
! (60) days, but not more than one-hundred, twenty i
(120 ) days , without payment of an additional examina-
tion fee.
Sec. 13-2024. Expiration, renewal of licenses; fees;
transferability. 1
License fees and licenses shall not be transferable and
shall expire on the thirty-first day of December of
each year. Licenses may be renewed upon the payment
of an annual license fee at the office of the city clerk `
i of ten dollars ($10 .00) for electrical contractors, j
li five dollars ($5 . 00) for journeymen electricians and 1
II five dollars ($5 . 00) for maintenance electricians . i
t+ Failure to renew a license before the expiration date
'I of December thirty-first may subject the person to a
it new examination except on the recommendation of the t
f� board.
j Sec. 13-2030 . Doing work without license.

I Any person other than a licensed electrician or as
t provided in Sec. 13-2010 , who engages in or does +'+
it electrical work in the city without first having I
f� obtained a license as herein provided for, is guilty
of a misdemeanor.
i Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
I conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
I
Section 4 . This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and publication as provided
by law.
