HomeMy WebLinkAboutA001 - memo, proposed amendment to plumbing ordinance OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO Louise Whitcome, City Clerk DATESeptember 11, 1970 FROM J. F. Bishop, City Attorney SUBJECT Proposed amendment to plumbing ordinance This proposed ordinance amending the plumbing ordinance embodies several recommendations that have been made to me during the past several months, including errors in the present Code and to include changes in fees as recommended by the Council. I will attempt to point out the changes in each paragraph. (1) Section 28-1005. 10. The only change in this section is to correct a printing error in the revision of the Code. (2) Section 28-1005. 11. The only change here is the addition of the last sentence which requires connection to a sewer within one year after it becomes available. (3) Section 28-1101, 28-1101. 1, 28-1101. 3, and 28-1101. 4. These are all corrections of errors made in codification. (4) Section 28-2006. 1. Appeals from decisions of the board of examiners. This is a new section to provide for an appeal from the board of plumbing examiners to the City Council. Such a right of appeal is provided with regard to decisions of the electrical board of examiners , and in my opinion should be included in the plumbing code. (5) Section 28-2007. The only change here is to increase the fee for an application to take the examination for a journeyman plumber' s license. The fee is presently $5. 00 and the proposed amendment increases the fee to $15. 00 as directed by the City Council in the review of the fee schedule. (6) Section 28-2011. As recommended, this section would allow individuals to be reexamined only once without the payment of an additional examination fee. The present provision permits unlimited reexaminations without payment of an additional fee. (7) Section 28-2014. This proposed section merely increases the license fee to $5. 00 from $2 .00 for a journeyman plumber and from $5. 00 to $10. 00 for a master plumber pursuant to the instructions of the Council incident to the study of the fee schedule. (8) Section 28-2020. This is a revision of the existing section to correct references therein. JFB:sac
