'VAL OF A PLATI REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND ESTABLICSSING AN MECTIVE DATE.
IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMESt IOWA
Section 1. Sections 32-1001 and 32--1014 of the Municipal Code
of the City of Ames, low&,. ashith+erto existing are hereby repealed.
section 2. New sections to be numbered 32-1001 and 32-1014
re bereby added to the Municripal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa,
s follows:
Sec. 3.2- 1001. Platting required.f scope of chapter.
{a) Svery original proprietor of any tract or .parcel of
land within the city or within two mires of the corporate
limits thereof, who has"subdivided or shall hereafter sub-
divide -
divide the same into three (3) or more parts,, for that pur-
pose of laying out a town or city, or addition thereto or
ppart thereof,, or suburban lots, shall cause a registered
land surveyor's plat of the subdivision or area to be made
by a registered land surveyor holding a certificate undo
the laces of the state in the forme and containing the in-
formation hereinafter set forth. The plat shall be sub-
mitted to the city council and approved by the council
before being made a mAtter of official record.
(b) As the city has a population of over twenty-five
thousand (25,0®0) by the latest federal census, and has
a playa commission organised under the laws of Iowa, this
chapter applies to all plats ,o# areas within two miles of
the corporation limits of the city. All forma, content
and procedural requirements is this chapter contained
applies to the plats. The city council may require as
a condition of approval of the plats that the owner of
the land bring the streets to a grade acceptable to the
council and comply with such other reasonable requi.re'Meats
in regard to installation of public utilities, or other
requirements in this chapter contained,, as the city council,
with the recommendation of the city plan commission, May
deem requisite for the protection of the public interest.

of plat.
The owner of the 1&Ad being platted shall have *.n file
with the city clerk not less than ,seven (7) days prior
to consideration by the pity council of the final accept-
anco cat the plat the followinq plats, documents and in-
formation in the forms and number of copies as hereinafter
specif i,.ed a
(a) Sixteen (16) copies .of the final plat.
(h) Three (3) copies of all easements for utility
or other purposes.
(c) Four (4) copies of a proposed resolution to
be adopted by the city council approving the
final plat and accepting lands to be dedicated
for public use.
(d) Three (3) copies of an agreement to be entered
into between the owner and the city providing
for the grading of streets and installation of
a sanitary sewer system and other utilities
or improvements as may be required.
Section 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4. This ordinance is in full force and effect from
and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
