AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER #30 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMEES, IOWA, ESTABLISHING AND ADDING THERETO ARTICLE III
DESIGNATED "PERMITS AND FEES" ; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF
FOOD-SERVICE ESTABLISHMENT OPERATING PERMITS AND SETTING PER 4IT
FEES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES .AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CON-
FLICT MREWITH AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
I4WA; IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES,
Section 1. A new Article III, Chapter #3e, is hereby
added to the Municipal Come of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows .

Permits, Application, Issuance and Fees.
Sec. 30-3001. Food-service establishment ;permits.
Permits for the operation of all food-service estab-
lishments, as defined in Section A.l of the Food
Service Sanitation Ordinance and Code adopted by
Sec. 38-1001, specifically including, among others ,
bakeries and meat and fish markets, shall be required,
issued, suspended and reinstated in accordance with
the provisions of .Section H.1 of said Ordinance and
Code.
Sec. 30-3001 a Food-service establishment permit
applications; issuance by the City Sanitarian.
An application for an initial permit or the renewal
of a permit to operate a food-service establishment
with payment of the permit fee as hereinafter provided
shall be made to the City Sanitarian on forms he will
supply, not .legs than ten (10) days prior to the desired
date of the permit. The City Sanitarian shall in co-
ordination with the Fire Chief and the Building official
assure that the necessary inspections are made and, if t' ,
applicant has fully complied with the provisions of
the Food-Service Establishment Code and has been issued
an occupancy permit by the Building Official, shall
issue the requested permit. The City Sanitarian shall
maintain in his office, a record of all applications
received, fees collected and permits issued and a"all
turn in to the Director of Finance all fees collected.
Sec. 30-3003. Food-service establishment fee.; permit
duration.
An application for an initial permit or the renewal
of a permit to operate a food-service establishment
shall be accompanied by an inspection fee as follows ;
(a) Fixed location establishment -- Twenty (20)
dollars.
(b) Temporary establishment - Ten (10) dollars.
(c) Mobile unit (excluding delivery units
operating frofrk a fixed establishment for which
a permit has been issued) - Ten (10) dollars.
Each business will pay only one food-service establish-
ment fee. Non-temporary. food-service establishment
permits shall expire on December thirty-first (31st)
of the year of issue.
Sec. 30-3004. Food and beverage vending machine
operating permits,
Permits for the operation of food and beverage vending
machines shall . he issued, suspended or revoked and
reinstated in accordance with the provisions of Section
11 of the Sanitation Ordinance .and Code covering the
Vending of Food and Beverages adapted by Sec. 30-2001.
14o permit will be required for the operation of machine
vending non-perishable confections and soft drinks dis-
ponsed in factory sealed wrappers or containers. How-
ever, such machines shall_ be ,subject to inspection.
Sec. 30--3005. Applications for vending machine permits;
inspection; duration.
Applicatious for the vending machine operating permits
and renewals thereof shall be submitted, in writing,
to the City Sanitarian on forms he will supply and
shall be accompanied by a► fee of ten (10) dollars per
MaLchine. Vending machine operating permits shall expire
on December thirty-first (31.st) of the year for which
issued.
Sec. 30-3006.. Vending machine operating permits;
issuances by City Sanitarian.
The City Sanitarian, after assuring himself that the
applicant has fully complied with the provisions of
the Food and Beverage Vending Machine Code, shall
provide and issue a permit to be glued or affixed to
the machine for which issued. The City Sanitarian
shall maintain in his office .a record of all applicat-
ions received, inspection fees collected and permits
issued and, shall turn in to the Director of Finance
all fees collected.
Section 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance, after its passage and
publication as provided by law, is in full force and effect
January 1, 1971.
