HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Chapter 32 of Municipal Code; Relating to Dimensions of Residence Lots ORDINANCD NO. 2322 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER #32 OF THE MUNI%IPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWAz REPEALING SECTION 32-2013 ; ESTABLISHING A NEW SECTION DESIGNATED 32-2013 PRESCRIBING MINIMUM DIMENSIONS FOR FAMILY RESIDENCE LOTS IN NEW ADDITIONS OR SUBDIVISIONS ; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMESt IOWA: Section 1. Section 32-2013 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, as hitherto existing is hereby repealed. Section 2 . A new section to be numbered 32-2013 is hereby added to the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Sec. 32-2013 . Width, length of lots . The minimum dim- ensions for one and two (2) family residence lots in new additions or subdivisions shall preferably be not less than seventy (70) feet in width and one hundred twenty (120) feet in length. Except as otherwise spec- ifically provided in the Zoning Ordinance or as spec- ifically approved by the City Council for a planned residential unit development, platted lots shall contain not less than six thousand (6, 000) square feet in area or be less than fifty (50) feet in width at the building line on irregular shaped lots. Corner lots in residence districts shall have a minimum width o:1- seventy (70) feet at the street line to provide adequate vision clearance at street intersections . Residence lots on ma-or street intersections and at other intersections having restricted vision clearance due to topographical or other conditions may be required to have a radius of fifteen (15) feet at the street corner. Section 3 . All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 4.
