AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 2-2015, 2-3020, AND
2-5019 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA; ESTABL-
ISHING NEW SECTIONS TO BE NUMBERED SECTIONS 2-2015, 2--3020,
AND 2-5019, PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF CERTAIN BOARDS AND
COMMISSIONS BY THE MAYOR, THE COMPENSATION OF COUNCIL MEMBERS,
AND DEFINING THE BUDGETARY POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE CITY MANAGER;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES,
IOWA:
Section 1. Sections 2-2015, 2-3020, and 2-5019 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, as hitherto existing
are hereby repealed.
Section 2. New sections to be numbered 2-2015, 2-3020,
and 2-5019 are hereby added to the Municipal Code of the City
of Ames, Iowa, as follows :
Sec. 2-2015. Appointment of boards , commissions .
The mayor shall appoint, �th the approval by the council,
the members of the civil service commission, hospital
advisory board, library board. of trustees, city plan
commission, fair housing board, playground commission,
board of plumbing examiners, zoning adjustment board,
two (2) members of the council to the board of trustees
of the utility employees retirement system, members
of the building code board of appeals and two (2) members
each of the police retirement board and the firemen's
retirement. board.
Sec. 2-3020. Compensation of council members .
Each council member shall receive as full compensation
for his or her services the sum of six hundred dollars
($600. 00) per annum, payable as the council may direct.
Sec. 2-5019. Budgetary powers , duties , r
The city manager is responsible for the budgeting of the
city and shall on or before July 15th of each year prepare
and shall submit to the council an annual budget on the
basis of estimates of the expenditures of all of the
departments and boards of the city, and to this end he may
demand of any board or department that its budget estimates
be submitted to him at such time as he may determine
necessary to oomplete the total budget. Any delinquency
in departmental or board budgeting shall be reported to
the council.
Section 3 . All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

Section 4. This ordinance is in full force and effect
from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
