AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE III, CHAPTER 36 OF THE MUNICIPAL
CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 36-3002,
36-3003 AND 36-3004; ESTABLISHING NEW SECTIONS TO BE NUMBERED
36-3002, 36-3003, AND 36-30047 ESTABLISHING THE RATES AT WHICH
CHARGES WILL BE MADE FOR WATER AND SERVICE SUPPLIED BY THE WATER
UTILITY; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES,
IOWA:
Section 1. Sections 36-3002, 36-3003 , and 36-3004 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, as hitherto existing
are hereby repealed.
Section 2. New sections to be numbered Section 36-3002,
36-3003, and 36-3004 are hereby added to the Municipal Code
of the City of Ames, Iowa, and are as follows :
Sec. 36-3002. Schedule of Rates in City.
The net amount to be charged for the use of water during
a meter reading interval of approximately thirty (30) days,
from each consumer ' s meter within the corporate limits of
the City, or from any consumer with whom the City shall
have a specific written contract, and connected to the water
supply system of the City shall be :
First 300 cubic feet of water used $0 .667 per 100
cubic feet. -v.7
Next 700 cubic feet of}water used $0.56 per 100
cubic feet.
Next 9000 cubic feet of water used $0.47 per 100
cubic feet.
Next 490, 000 cubic feet of water used $0 .39 per 100
cubic feet.
All over 500,000 cubic feet of water used $0.36 per 100
cubic feet.
The above rates are based on the consumption of water
through one meter, except where a battery of meters is
installed in parallel, serving the same function as a
compound meter, fed by a single service line from the
main, and collected into a single header within the building
the combined readings of these several meters shall be
used in computing the amount to be charged.
Sec . 36-3003 . Minimum Charges .
Each water meter owned by the City and connected to the
city water supply shall return a minimum charge from a
monthly reading interval of approximately thirty (30)
days or fraction thereof as follows :

Section 3 . All ordinances and parts of ordinances in con-
flict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance is in full force and effect from
and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
