AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CPAPTLR 38 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE C.F' THE
CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 38-1045 OF THE MUNICIPAL '.
CODE, E€TABLISHING A NEW SECTION TO -BE, NUMBERED 3t�-1045 14HICY,
SECTIONS STATES THE RULES FOR COMPUTING OFF-STREET PARKING;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE-
WITH; AND ESTABLISHES AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
IT IS ORDAINED BY ThE CITY COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF AMES,
: Section 1 Section 35-1045 of the Municipal Code of the
City of Ames , Iowa, ,-s hitherto existinq is re.pealed
Section. 2 A new section to be numbered 38-I.045 is addled
to the Municipal. Coop of the City of Ames , Iowa, and is as
follows :

Sec. 38-1045 Rules for computing off-street parking
In computing the number of off-street parking spa:.•+
required, the following ru leis govern:
(a) "Floor Area" means the gross .floor area of
the specific use
(b) Wbere fractional spaces result, the parking
spaces required are the nearest. whole number.
(c) The parking space requirement for a n se not
specifically mentioned herein is the same as
required for a use of similar nature.
(d) Whenever a building erected or established
after the effective date of this chapter J.s enlarge
in flour area nuniLer of employees . number of
dwelling units , seating capacity or otherwise
to create a need for an increase of ten per cent
(10%) or more in the number of ex is t ing parking
spaces such spaces shall be provided can the basis
of the enlargement or change.
(e) Whenever a building existing prior to the

acting City Clerk of the City of Ames, Iowa, do hereby certify
that the above and foregoing Ordinance No. 2245 is a true and
