AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 33 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODEJ,
CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 33-11022 THEREOF AND
ESTABLISHING A NEW SECTION TO BE NUMBERED 33-11022 DESIGNATING
CERTAIN STREETS OR PORTIONS THEREOF AS "THROUGH STREETS " ;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND ESTABLISHING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES,
IOWA:
Section 1. Section 33-11022 of the Municipal Code of
the City of Ames , Iowa, as hitherto existing, is hereby repealed.
Section 2 . A new section to be numbered 33-11022 is
added to Chapter 33 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames ,
Iowa, and is as follows :
Sec. 33-11022 . Specific streets designated. "The
following streets or protions of streets are through
streets :
Third Street, South from the West line of Duff Avenue
to the intersection of South Fourth Street;
Fourth Street, South from the intersection of South
Third Street to the East line of South Riverside Drive;
Fifth Street, from the West line of Clark Avenue to the
East line of Grand Avenue;
Sixth Street, except at Kellogg Avenue and Grand Avenue,
from the West line of Duff Avenue to the Squaw Creek
Bridge;
Ninth Street, except at Grand Avenue from the West line
of Duff Avenue to the West line of Northwestern Avenue;
Thirteenth Street, except at Dayton Avenue, Duff Avenue
and Grand Avenue from the East corporate limits to the
West line of Crescent Street;
Sixteenth Street, except at Duff Avenue, Burnett Avenue,
and Grand Avenue from the East line of Carr Drive to
the West line of Ridgewood Avenue;
Twentieth Street, except at Grand Avenue from the West
line of Duff Avenue to the West line of High School
Entrance ;
Twenty-fourth Street, except at Grand Avenue from the West
line of Duff Avenue to the West corporate limits ;
Airport Road, from the West line of South Duff Avenue to
the West corporate limits ;
Ash Avenue , from the South line of Lincoln Way to the
North line of Mortenson Road;
Beach Avenue, from the South line of Lincoln Way to the
South corporate limits ;
Carr Drive, from the West line of Meadowlane Avenue to
the North line of Sixteenth Street;
North Dakota Avenue, except at Ontario Street from the
North line of Lincoln Way to the North corporate limits ;
Dakota Avenue, South from the South line of Lincoln Way
to the South corporate limits ;
Dayton Avenue, except at Thirteenth Street from the North
line of Lincoln Way to the North corporate limits ,
Duff Avenue, except at Sixth Street, Thirteenth Street
and Sixteenth Street from Lincoln Way to the South line
of Twentieth Street;
Duff Avenue, South from the South line of Lincoln Way
to the South corporate limits ;
Franklin Avenue from the North line of Lincoln Way to
the South line of Woodland Avenue;
Grand Avenue, except at Sixth Street, Ninth Street,
Thirteenth Street, Twentieth Street and Twenty-fourth
Street from the North line of Lincoln Way to the North
corporate limits ;
Hazel Avenue, from the North line of Lincoln Way to the
South line of Sixth Street;
Hyland Avenue except at West Street from the North line
of Lincoln Way to the South line of Ontario Street;
Kellogg Avenue from the North line of Lincoln Way to the
I> South line of Main Street;
Kellogg Avenue, except at Sixth Street from the North line
of Fifth Street to the South line of Ninth Street;
Kellogg Avenue, South from the South line of Lincoln Way
to the North line of South Third Street;
Knapp Street, except at Welch Avenue from the West line
of Ash Avenue to the East line of Sheldon Avenue;
Lincoln Way, except at Duff Avenue, Kellogg Avenue,
Grand Avenue, Maple Avenue, Beach Avenue, Knoll Road,
Ash Avenue, Lynn Avenue, Stanton Avenue, Welch Avenue,
Hayward Avenue, Sheldon Avenue and Franklin Avenue from
the East corporate limits to the West corporate limits ;
Main Street from the West line of Clark Avenue to the
East line of Allan Drive;
Mortenson Road, except at State Avenue from the West line
of Ash Avenue to the West corporate limits ;
Northwestern Avenue, except at Sixth Street, Ninth Street,
Thirteenth Street and Twentieth Street from the East line
of Allan Drive to the South line of Twenty-fourth Street;

Ontario Street, except at North Dakota Avenue from the
intersection with Hyland Avenue to the West corporate
limits ;
Ridgewood Avenue, from the North line of Sixteenth Street
to the South line of Twentieth Street;
Sheldon Avenue from the South line of Lincoln Way to the
North line of Knapp Street;
State Avenue from the South line of Lincoln Way to the
South corporate limits ;
Welch Avenue from the South line of Lincoln Way to the
North line of Knapp Street;
West Street from the West line of Sheldon Avenue to the
West line of Woodland Avenue;
Woodland Avenue, except at Franklin Avenue from the West
line of Hickory Drive to the North line of West Street; "
Section 3 . All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance is in full force and effect
from and after its passage and publication according to law.
