IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE C IT1- OF AMES, IOWA: „. . , .. Section 1. Section 38 1049 of she Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, is hereby repealed. Section 2. Section 38, 1049 is added to the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, and is as follows : Sec. 38 1049. Special use permits authorized. The City Council may, by special permit, after public hearing and report by the City Plan Commission, and subject to such protective restrictions that it deems necessary., authorize the location, construction, extension or structural alteration of any of the following buildings or uses, or an increase in their height, in any district from which they .are prohibited or lir,�ited by this chapter. (a) .Any public building erected and used by any department of a municipal, county, state or federal government. (b) Airport, landing field or landing strip. y (c) Nursery and txuck garden. (d) Riding stables, provided that no enclosed structure used for housing, storing, or caring for animals shall be -located closer than seventy -five (75) feet or an open area used as a corral, arena, or exercise: yard closer than one hundred (100) feet to any lot line. (e) Roadside stand, commezcw.al amusement or recreational development for temporary or seasonal periods, including drive--in theaters . (f) Extraction of tog sail, gravel, sand or ether natural resources except that in any such operatio in any district, there *hall be a restoration plan filed with the City of Ames and such Man shall contain the following: (1) An agreement with the City whereby the applicant contracts to restore the premises to a condition and within a time satisfactory to the City.
