HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Chapter 78 of Municipal Code; Disturbances by Dogs and Cats l ORDINANCE NO. 2186 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 78 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 78-11 THEREOF AS HITHERTO EXISTING; BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION, NUMBERED 78-11, WHICH EXEMPTS SMALL ANIMAL CLINICS, OPERATED BY A LICENSED VETERINARIAN, WHERE PROPERLY ZONED, FROM THE PROVISIONS THEREOF PERTAINING TO DISTURBANCES OF THE PEACE BY DOGS AND CATS ; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA: Section 1. Section 78-11 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, as hitherto existing, is repealed. Section 2. A new section, to be numbered 78-11, is added to Chapter 78 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, and is as follows: 78-11. Dogs or Cats Disturbing the Peace. "It is unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation keeping, owning, or sheltering a dog or cat to allow or permit such animal to go upon the premises of another, to cause damage to or interfere with such premises, or to cause serious annoyance to a person or persons by frequent and habitual howling, yelping, or barking; provided, however, that the provisions of this section relating to said annoyance do not apply to a duly zoned small animal clinic, operated by a duly licensed veterinarian. " Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed. Section 4.
