ORDINANCE NO. 2170
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 26-8 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, AS HITHERTO EXISTING; ADDING A NEW
SECTION TO BE NUMBERED 26-8, TO SAID CODE; REPEALING ALL ORDI-
NANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND ESTAB-
LISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES,r
IOWA:
Section 1. Section 26-8 of the Municipal Code of the
City of Ames, Iowa, as hitherto existing, is repealed.
Section 2. A new section, to be numbered 26-8, is added
to Chapter 26 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa,
and is as follows :
"26-8. Consumer 2s Deposit. An initial deposit for
service is not required. On any account which ever is
delinquent for thirty (30) days, the consumer shall
make a deposit not to exceed two month=s bill, based
upon an average month's bill. This deposit shall be
returned to the consumer after six months, if during
that time no further delinquency occurs . Thereafter,
on any account which is again delinquent for thirty
(50) days, the consumer shah, each time such delin-
quency occurs, make said deposit which shall, each
time, be administered as provided above. "
Section 3 . All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance is in full force and effect
from and after January 1, 1967.
