HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Repealing Section 46-16 of Municipal Code; Housemoving Permits a ORDINANCE NO. 2163 AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 46-16 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, AS HITHERTO EXISTING: AUTHOR- IZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DENY A HOUSE-MOVING PERMIT UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS ; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA: Section 1. Section 46-16 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, as hitherto existing, is repealed. Section 2. A new section, numbered 46-16, is added to the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, and is as follows : "46-16. Permit to Move Issued or Denied. When an application has been made for a moving permit as provided herein and is approved by the City Manager, he shall, after being presented with a receipt for payment of the permit fee by the house mover to the City Clerk, issue to the applicant a permit, in duplicate, num- bered in consecutive order, one copy being furnished the applicant and a rec- ord thereof retained in his office. Such permit shall contain the name and address of the person, firm or corporation to whom issued, the route to be followed, and the time of startir-g and completing the moving operation within public ways, an abstract of the information and agree- ments contained in the application, and such regulations, conditions, and in- structions as the City Manager may deem necessary to protect public and private property and secure compliance with the provisions of this chapter. Such per- mit shall not take effect, and the work shall not be commenced until the time therein stated and shall at all times be under the supervision and control of the City Manager or his representa- tive. The City Manager may deny an application for a permit when, in his opinion, it is necessary to protect public or private property; or public safety; or to secure complicance with the Ames Municipal Code of the Laws of the State of Iowa. " Y -2- Section 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed. Section 4.
