Home My WebLink About~Master - Repealing Section 9-2 D of Municipal Code; Clarifying Duties of City Solicitor ORDINANCE NO. 2144 AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 9-2 D OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, AS HITHERTO EXISTING; ADDING A NEW SECTION THERETO CLARIFYING THE DUTIES OF THE CITY SOLIC- ITOR; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA: Section 1. Section 9-2 D of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa;, as hitherto existing, is repealed. Section 2. A new sections to be numbered 9-2 Dr is added to said Code and is as follows : 9-2 D. Contracts and Litigation. "He shall, when directed to do so by any city official, board or com- mission, draw all contracts between the city and other parties;, prose- cute and defend all suits or other matters in which the city shall be a party, take appeals in such cases as the interest of the city requires, and prosecute or defend the city=s interest in all the courts of the state and of the United States,, all., subject, however, to the direction of the city council; provided# how- ever,, that he is authorized and directed to prepare, sign and file proper informations when there is in his opinion sufficient evidence to warrant the belief that a person is guilty and can be convicted of a violation of a city ordinance; and to prosecute any and all such infor- mations to judgment; and on appeal when authorized by the city council. " Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed. Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its passage and publication according to law.
