ORDINANCE NO. 2138
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 61 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMES, IOWA: PROHIBITING ANY PERSON UNDER THE AGE OF
TWENTY-ONE YEARS TO BE IN A PLACE WHERE BEER IS SOLD; AND
PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES,
IOWA:
Section 1. That Chapter 61 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames,
Iowa be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto the following Sec-
tion to be known as Section 61-35. 2 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames,
Iowa:
61-35. 2 Minors Prohibited, It shall be unlawful for a
person under twenty-one years of age to be in, or for
any person to permit a person under the age of twenty-
one years to be in, a place where beer is sold unless at
least fifty per cent of the business conducted by the permit
holder is other than the sale of beer or intoxicating
beverages. The provisions of this section shall not
apply to any person under the age of twenty-one years
who:
(a) is accompanied by a parent or guardian, or,
(b) is a regular employee of the permit holder while
performing regular duties during the course of employ-
ment.
Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance
shall upon conviction be subject to a fine of not exceeding one hundred dollars,
or by imprisonment not exceeding thirty days.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as provided by law.
