HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Chapter 25 of Municipal Code, Providing for Restricted Parking ORDINANCE NO. 2108 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 25-115 AND 25-115. 1 THEREOF; AND PROVIDING FOR TWO MINUTE OR RESTRICTED UNMETERED PARKING, APPLICATIONS THEREFOR, AND PAYMENT OF PARKING METER RATES THEREFOR. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Sections 25-115 and 25. 115. 1 of Chapter 25 of the Mun- icipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa be and the same is hereby repealed an the following be and the same is hereby enacted in lieu thereof to be known as Sections 25-115 and 25-115. 1 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa. 25-115. Two Minute or Restricted Unmetered Parking. The City Manager may, with the consent of the Council, designate the zone and order two-minute or restricted unmetered parking during such portion of the day as will expedite the movement of vehicular traffic or loading on or across any street, avenue, or alley within the parking meter district. 25-115. 1. Application For Two Minute or Restricted Un- metered Parking. The proprietor of any business establish- ment within any parking meter district, desiring unmetered two-minute parking or restricted parking for the proprietor's commercial trucks for the purpose of loading or unloading, in the street; avenue or alley abutting his business establishment, shall make a written proposal therefor to the City Manager. The City Manager shall present such request with his recom- mendations thereon to the Council for its approval or dis- approval. The granting of such request shall be contingent upon the proprietor agreeing to pay into the parking meter funds yearly in advance a sum of money equivalent to the hourly charge for parking multiplied by the number of hours per year during which unmetered parking is in effect for each such parking space. Meters involved shall be covered only during the times ap- plicable with hoods and appropriate signs reading " 2 minute unmetered parking" with the times specified thereon, or "No Public Parking reserved ( proprietors name ) trucks" , as the case may be, shall be placed and maintained only during the times unmetered parking is applicable. It shall be the duty of the proprietor to place and remove said hoods and/or signs so that same are in effect only during such hours as paid for by the proprietor as above provided Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Page Two. Section 3.
