HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Acquiring and Improving Downtown Parking Facilities AMES, IOWA DECEMBER 21, 1965 The City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, met in regular seesion at the Council Chambers at City Hall at 8:00 P.M. , CST, on December 21, 1965. Mayor DeHart presided and the roll was called showing members present and absent as follows: Present: Jellinger, Judge, Pasley, Eschbach, Bledsoe, Fisher Absent: None Councilman Eschbach read the ordinance entitled: "Ordinance No. 2106, An Ordinance Establishing Benefitted Districts for the Acquisi- tion and Improvement of Parking Facilities in the Central Business District of the City of Ames, Iowa. " It was moved by Eschbach, seconded by Bledsoe , that the Ordinance be passed on its second reading. The Mayor put the question on the motion , and the roll being called, the following Councilmen voted: Aye: Jellinger, Judge, Pasley, Eschbach, Bledsoe, Fisher Nay: None Whereupon the Mayor declared the motion duly carried, It was moved by Councilman Eschbach and seconded by Councilman Judge that the rule requiring said Ordinance to be read on three different days be dispensed with. The Mayor put the question on the motion , and the roll being called, the following named Councilmen voted: Aye: Jellinger, Judge, Pasley, Eschbach, Bledsoe, Fisher Nay: None Whereupon the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. It was moved by Councilman Bledsoe, seconded by Councilman Eschbach, that the Ordinance entitled: "Ordinance No. 2106. An Ordinanc Establishing Benefitted Districts for the Acquisition and Improvement of Parking Facilities in the Central Business District of the City of Ames, Iowa, '' be now put upon its final passage and adoption. The Mayor put the question on the final passage and adoption of said ordinance, and the roll being called, the following named Councilmen voted: Aye: Jellinger, Judge, Pasley, Eschbach, Bledsoe, Fisher Nay: None Whereupon the Mayor declared said Ordinance duly adopted and signed his approval to said Ordinance. ORDINANCE NO. 2106 An ordinance establishing benefited district for the acquisition and improvement of parking facilities in the Central Business District of the City of Ames, Iowa. WHEREAS, the City of Ames, Iowa, has conducted a survey and investigation pursuant to the provisions of Section 4 of House File 132 as passed by the 61st General Assembly of the State of Iowa.; and WHEREAS, the City of Ames, Iowa, deems it advasible and necessary that there be acquired and improved a Central Business District parking lot to be used as a public parking facility, pursuant to the provisions of sai House File 132; IT IS THEREFORE ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. That the following described benefited district be and the same is hereby established for the acquisition and improvement of the aforesaid Central Business District parking facilities to be utilized as a parking lot: Beginning in the East line of Grand Avenue at a point 71. 0 feet South of the North line Lot 11, Well's Subdivision to the City of Ames, Iowa, thence South along the East line Grand Avenue and said East line extended to the South line of Lincoln Way, thence East along the South line Lincoln Way to the East right-of-way line of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, thence southwesterly along said East right-of-way line to a point 624. 83 feet South of the South line Lincoln Way, thence East to the southwest corner Lot 5, Block B, Black's 2nd Addition, thence continuing East along the South line said Lot 5 said Addition and the South lines of Lots 7 and 8, Block 8, Black's 2nd Addition, and South lines Lots 7 and 8, Block 7, Black's 3rd Addition and the South lines Lots 7 and 8, Block 6, Black's 3rd Addition to the southeast corner said Lot 8, thence North 49. 66 feet, thence East along the South lines Lots 8, 9 and 10, Block 5, Black's 2nd Addition to the southeast corner said Lot 8, thence North 108 feet, thence East along the South line Lot 1, Block 5, Black's Addition and the South line Lot 2, Block 4, Kingsbury Addition to the southwest corner Lot 1 said Addition, thence North to the South line East South 2nd Street, thence East along South line of East South. 2nd Street to the northeast corner. Lot 2, Block 3, Kingsbury's Addition, thence North to the northeast corner Lot 12, Block 2, Kingsbury's Addition, thence East to the southeast corner Lot 10, Block 2, Kingsbury's Addition, thence North to the northeast corner Lot 7, said Addition, thence East to the southeast corner Lot 5, Block B, Kingsbury's 2nd Addition, thence North to the northeast corner said Lot 5, thence East to the southeast corner Lot 2, Block B said Addition, thence North along the East line said Lot 2 and the West line Qnter Avenue to the South right-of-way line of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, thence northwesterly to the southeast corner Lot 3, Block 39, 2nd Addition, thence North along the East lines Lots 1, 2 and 3 said Addition and the West line of Crawford Avenue to the northeast corner Lot 4, HERRICK, LANG;DON. Mayor Pro-tempore Judge presided and the roll was called showing members present and absent as follows: Present: Pasley, Eschbach, Fisher, Judge Absent: Bledsoe, Jellinger, Mayor DeHart. Councilman Eschbach introduced an ordinance entitled: "Ordinance No. 2106. An ordinance establishing benefited district for the aepi sition and improvement of parking facilities in the Central Business District of the City of Ames, Iowa". It was moved by Councilman Eschbach, seconded by Couxaalman Pasley, that Ordinance No. 2106 be passed on its first reading. The Mayor Pro-tempore put the question on the motion, and the roll was called, the following named Councilmen voted: Aye: Pasley, Eschbach, Fisher, Judge Nay: None Absent: Bledsoe, Jelbinger, Mayor DeHart. Whereupon Mayor Pro-tem Judge declared the Ordinance passed on its first reading. There being no further business before the council, the meeting adjourned. Pearle P. DeHart, Mayor Attest: Louise A. Section 2. The cost of acquiring and improving the afore- said parking facilities to the extent of Thirty-eight and seven tenths per cent ( 38 .7 %) shall be assessed and the balance of the costs shall be paid from the issuance and sale of Parking Lot Revenue Bonds, from cash on hand and from such other funds as may be legally available for such purpose. Section 3 . All ordinances and resolutions or parts thereof in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4.
