HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Chapter 76 of Municipal Code, Prohibiting Disturbing the Peace ORDINANCE NO. -P60 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 76 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA; REPEALING SECTION 76-2 THEREOF; PRO- HIBITING DISTURBING THE PEACE AND QUIET; AND PROVIDING PENAL- TIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA: Section 1. That Chapter 76 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, be and the same is hereby amended by repealing Section 76-2 thereof; and the following be and the same is hereby enacted in lieu thereof to be known as Section 76-2 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa: 76-2 Disturbing Peace and Quiet. Any person who disturbs or interfers with the peace and quiet of any neighborhood, assembly, family, person, street, public place, public or private building or public conveyances by loud or unusual noises; by indecent, obscene or profane language, conversation or conduct; by threatening quarreling or fighting; or by any other means; de- vices or act, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. Nothing here- in contained shall be held to prohibit the proper use of warn- ing signals on public conveyances. Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this or- dinance shall upon conviction be subject to a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars, or by imprisonment not exceeding thirty days. Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with th provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 4.
