ORDINANCE NO. 2098
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA; AND, DELEGATING TO THE CITY MANAGER
THE DUTY OF CONDUCTING AND PRESIDING OVER PUBLIC MEETINGS
OR HEARINGS WHERE BIDS OR PROPOSALS ARE REQUIRED TO BE
TAKEN IN CONNECTION WITH PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA:
Section 1. That Chapter 7 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames,
Iowa be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto the following
section to be known as Section 7-5. 11 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Ames, Iowa:
7-5. 11. Public Improvement Bids. The City Manager or in
event of his absence, the city Engineer or city Director of
Finance, is hereby delegated the duty of conducting and pre-
siding over all public meetings or hearings as may be re-
quired in connection with the receiving and opening of all
bids and proposals and announcing the results thereof in
all cases where bids or proposals are required to be taken
in connection with any public improvement. Such public
hearings or meetings shall be held in the City Hall and,
unless otherwise specified in the notice to bidders, the
same shall be held at 10:00 o'clock A. M. in the Council
Chambers or such other public room in the City Hall as
may be available therefor. The City Manager or other
duly authorized public officer shall report the results of
all such bidding together with his recommendations thereon
to the Council at its next meeting, and all such bids and
proposals received shall be filed in the office of the City
Clerk.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as provided by law.

the passage of ordinances be suspended, the second and third
reading be omitted, and Ordinance No. 2098 be placed for
