AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMES,, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 2-3 THEREOF; AND
ENACTING A NEW SECTION 2-3 THEREOF AND PROVIDING FOR THE
ELECTION BY THE COUNCIL OF CITY OFFICERS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA:
Section 1. That Section 2-3 of Chapter 2 of the Municipal Code of
the City of Ames, Iowa, be and the same is hereby repealed and the following
be and the same is hereby enacted in lieu thereof to be known as Section 2-3
of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa:
2-3 OFFICERS APPOINTED. The Council shall upon qualification
and at said first meeting, elect a Clerk, Solicitor, City Manager,
and Health Officer, fix their terms of employment not to exceed two
years and fix the compensation of said elected employees.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as provided by law.
Passed this 3rd day of August 1965.

Moved by Eschbach and seconded by Pasley to suspend the rules gove n-
ing the passage of ordinances, omit the third reading and place
Ordinance No. 2083 for final passage

Mayor De Hart declared Ordinance No. 2083 duly adopted.
This is to certify that Ordinance No. 2063
was passed by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
on the 3rd day of August , 1965; that the same has not
been signed by the Mayor and he has not returned the same
to the City Council with his reasons for failure to sign
said Ordinance, nor has he called a meeting of the Council
within 14 days after August 3 , 1965 all as provided, by
Section 366.5 , Code of Iowa; and that said Ordinance No. 2083
therefore operative without such signature.
