AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 16 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 16-1 AND 16-2 THEREOF;
AND CREATING A BOARD OF HOSPITAL TRUSTEES AND THE TERMS OF
OFFICE OF SUCH TRUSTEES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AMES, IOWA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That Sections 16-1 and 16-2 of the Municipal Code
of the City of Ames, Iowa, be and the same are hereby repealed,
and the following be and the same are hereby enacted in lieu
thereof to be known as Sections 16-1 and 16-2, respectively, of
the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa:
16-1 Board Created. There is hereby created a board of
hospital trustees consisting of seven (7) menb ers, said
members shall be appointed by the mayor and approved by
the city council, be citizens of Ames and qualified by know-
ledge and experience to act in matters pertaining to the
management and control of a municipal hospital, and who
shall not hold any elective office in the municipal
government.
16-2 Term of Office. The term of office of the members of
the board shall be six (6) years, to serve from January first
of each even-numbered years. Each trustee shall, within
fifteen (15) days after his appointment, qualify by taking the
oath of office.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the pr
ovisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after December 31, 1963 and its passage and publication as
pr�v id ed by law.

Moved by Bledsoe and seconded by Fisher the rules governing the
passage of ordinances be suspended, the second and third readings b
omitted and Ordinance No. 2010 be placed for final passage.

Moved by Judge and seconded by Brouhard Ordinance No. 2010 do now
pass.

Mayor DeHart declared Ordinance No. 2010 duly passed.
I, M. W. Jordan, City Clerk of the City of Ames, Iowa, do hereby
certify that Ordinance No. 2010 was duly and properly passed by the
City Council of the City of Ames , Iowa, at its meeting on the 3rd
day of December, 1963 and published in the Ames Daily Tribune on
the 7th day of December, 1963.
