District No. 1, in the City of Ames;Iowa,a notice whereof was given by the Dubiication of a
{ Proposed Resolution of Necessity,in the Ames Times and Ames Intelligencer,May 19th,2 th,
and June tad and 9th,1904,A.D.,and made a Dart thereof.
- G Be it enacted by the City Council,of the City of Ames.Iowa, that:
See.1. A system of sewer and sub-drainage be constructed In the Sewer District No.1,in
the City of Ames,Iowa,on the streets,and in the manner and form as hereinafter set out,
to-wit:

FF See.2. That said sewer shall be constructed of first grade vitrified sewer pipe. and sub-
drains of best quality vitrified agricultural drain tile. Said sewers and subdrains shall be
- + constructed according to the plans and specifications for same prepared by A. Marston. now
on file with the City Clerk,which plans and specifications are hereby referred to and made a
k; part of this ordinance. Man holes,flush tanks,lamp holes and other accessories shall be con-
structed as provided in said plans and specifications.
See.3. That the cost of constructing said sanitary sewers and subdrains shall be assessed
k against the property abutting thereon and adjacent thereto, by special assessment, in pro-
portion to special benefits conferred,which shall not exceed 25 percent of the actual value of
- the property, The adjacent property shall consist of non-abutting divisions of abutting lots,
and of all lots abutting on Story street which do not directly abut on a sewer shown in the
plans,which adjacent property shall be assessed as wholly unimproved.
-&C.4. That the contractor who shall construct said sewers and subdrains is to keep the
r same in repair for one year from the date of acceptance by the City of Ames.
Sec.5. That the contractor is to be paid.in sewer certificates against the property
llf assessed,as provided by law.
Sec.6. This ordinance shall be published as prescribed by law,and shall be in full force
and effect,from and after said publication. - PARLEY SHELDON,Mayor.
