AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 25-29. 6, 25-29. 7, AND
25-29. 8 THEREOF; AND PROVIDING SPEED RESTRICTIONS ON LINCOLN
WAY, SOUTH DUFF AVENUE, AND GRAND AVENUE IN THE CITY OF AMES,
IOWA..
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA,
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That Sections 25-29. 6, 25-29. 7 and 25-29. 8 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, be and the same are hereby repealed
and the following be and the same are hereby enacted in lieu thereof to be known
as Sections 25-29. 6, 25-29. 7, and 25-29. 8, respectively, of the Municipal
Code of the City of Ames, Iowa:
25-29. 6. Speed Restrictions, Lincoln Way.
A speed in excess of fifty-five (55) miles per hour on
Lincoln Way from a point 1850 feet east of the west line
of Section 12, Township 83 North, Range 24 West of the
5th P. M. , Iowa to the west line of said Section 12 shall be
unlawful; a speed in excess of thirty (30) miles per hour
from the west line of said Section 12 to the east line of
North Riverside Drive to the center line of Beach Avenue
shall be unlawful; a speed in excess of thirty (30) miles
per hour from the centerline of Beach Avenue to the west
line of Sheldon Avenue shall be unlawful; a speed in excess
of thirty-five (35) miles per hour from the west line of
Sheldon Avenue to the west line of Marshall Avenue shall
be unlawful; and a speed in excess of fifty-five (55) miles
per hour from the west line of Marshall Avenue to a
point 200 feet west of the west line of North Dakota Avenue
shall be unlawful.
25-29. 7. Speed Restrictions, South Duff Avenue.
A speed in excess of thirty (30) miles per hour on South
Duff Avenue from Lincoln Way to South Third Street shall
be unlawful; a speed in excess of thirty-five (35) miles
per hour from South Third Street south to a point 100 feet
south of the south end of the Squaw Creek Bridge shall be
unlawful; and a speed in excess of fifty (50) miles an hour
from a point 100 feet south of the south end of the Squaw
Creek Bridge south to the south corporation limits shall
be unlawful.
25-29. 8 Speed Restrictions, Grand Avenue. A speed
in excess of thirty-five (35) miles per hour on Grand Avenue
from Thirteenth Street to a point 300 feet north of the north
line of Twenty Fourth Street shall be unlawful; and a speed
in excess of fifty-five (55) miles per hour from a point 300
feet north of the north line of Twenty Fourth Street to the
north line of Top-O-Hollow Road shall be unlawful.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict With
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as provided by law.
