ORDINANCE NO. 1061
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 42 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 42-10 THEREOF; AND
PROVIDING FOR ZONING REGULATIONS FOR "B" DISTRICTS„ (MULTIPLE
RESIDENCE)
Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
Section 1. That Section 42-10 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Ames, Iowa, be and the same is hereby repealed and the following enacted in
lieu thereof, to be known as Section 42-10 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Ames, Iowa:
42-10 Use Regulations for "B" Districts. (Multiple Residence).
Within any "B"District unless otherwise provided in this ordinance,
no building or land shall be used for other than one or more of
the uses herein specified as permissible in "A"or "AB" Districts,
or for other than one or more of the following purposes:
(a) Multi-family dwellings.
(b) Fraternity or Sorority.
(c) Boarding or Lodging houses, provided that there be
no conspicuous advertising signs.
(d) Private garages and accessory buildings under con-
ditions as specified in Sections 42-16. 1, 42-16. 2 and 42-16. 3
of this ordinance.
(e) Municipal, state or federal buildings.
(f) Convalescent and rest homes.
(g) Clubs, lodges, or social or community buildings,
excepting those a chief function of which is a service or activity
conducted or customarily conducted for gain.
(h) Florist shopx and greenhouses.
(i) Funeral Homes and Mortuaries.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and publication as provided by law.

Mayor DeHart declared Ordinance No. 1061 passed on its first
reading.

Moved by Eschbach and seconded by Brouhard Ordinance No. 1061 be
passed on its second reading.
Voting Aye: Armstrong, Judge, Brouhard, Eschbach, Bledsoe
Voting Nay: None
Absent: Schilletter
Moved by Eschbach and seconded by Judge the rules governing the
passage of ordinances be suspended, the third reading be omitted
and Ordinance No. 1061 be placed on its final passage.

Voting Nay: None
Absent: Schilletter
Moved by Bledsoe and seconded by Judge Ordinance No. 1061 do now
pass.

Mayor DeHart declared Ordinance No. 1061 duly passed.
I, M. W. Jordan, City Clerk of the City of Ames, Iowa, do hereby
certify that the above and foregoing Ordinance No. 1061 was duly
and properly adopted by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, at its meeting on the 2nd day of April, 1963, and published
in the Ames Daily Tribune on the 8th day of April, 1963.
