ORDINANCE NO. 1040
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 25-40. 14, 25-40. 17,
25-40. 18, 25-104. 1 and 25-104. 2 THEREOF; PROHIBITING LEFT TURNS ON
CERTAIN STREETS; DESIGNATING THROUGH STREETS; AND PROVIDING
FOR LIMITED THIRTY MINUTE PARKING ON WEST STREET.
Be It Ordained By The City Council of The City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
Section 1. That Chapter 25 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Ames, Iowa, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto the
following sections to be known as Sections 25-35. 3 and 25-35.4, respectively,
of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa:
25. 35. 3 Left Turns are prohibited for vehicles entering
Sixth Street from the north side thereof for a distance of
55 feet west of the west line of Kellogg Avenue.
25. 35.4 Left turns are prohibited for vehicles entering
Fifth Street from the north side thereof for a distance
Of 55 feet west of the west line of Kellogg Avenue.
Section 2. That Sections 25-40. 14. 25-40. 17 and 25-40. 18 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa be and the same are hereby repealed
and the following be and the same are hereby enacted to be known as Sections
25-40. 14 and 25-40. 17, respectively, of the Municipal Code of the City of
Ames, Iowa:
25-40. 14 Sixteenth Street from the east line of Maxwell
Avenue to the west line of Ridgewood Avenue, except at
Duff Avenue, Burnett Avenue, and Grand Avenue is hereby
designated as a through street.
25-40. 17 Hazel Avenue from the north line of Lincoln
Way to the south line of Sixth Street is hereby designated
as a through street.
Section 3. That Sections 2 5-104. 1 and 2 5-104. 2 of the Municipal
Code of the City of Ames, Iowa be and the same are hereby repealed and the
following, be-mid the same is hereby enacted to be known as Section 25-104. 1
of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa:
2 5-104. 1 Parking is limited to thirty (3 0) minutes on the
south side of West Street from the west line of Sheldon
Avenue to the east line of Howard Avenue, as provided in
Section 25-104.
Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and publication as provided by law.

the passage of ordinances be suspended, the second and third
readings be omitted and Ordinance No. 1040 be placed on its final
passage.

Mayor DeHart declared Ordinance No. 1040 duly adopted.
I, M. W. Jordan, City Clerk of the City of Ames, Iowa, do hereby
certify that the above and foregoing Ordinance No. 1040 was duly
and properly adopted by the City Council at its meeting on the
18th day of September, 1962, and published in the Ames Daily
Tribune on the 28th day of September, 1962.
