c' Be it ordaiaed of the city council of the city of
Aries,Iowa:
is hereby re-
SEe. 1. That ordinance No.101
r i pealed and the following enacted in lieu there

STrc.2. That the elective officers of the city of Ames,Iowa,shall be a mayor, treasurer, #
assessor,solicitor and eight councilmen.That
the mayor,treasurer, solicitor and assessor

t city council at its first regular meeting in
April. The city marshal and deputy-marsnal
shall be appointed by the mayor for the period
of one year but they or either of tt.em may be -- - - i
removed by him for cause at ally time.
Sec.4. The compensatiou of said officers y
shall be as follows:—The mayor shall receive
$100 dollars annually as salary and fees as ,•
magistrate,the treasurer stall receive$:23,the
assessor the same compensation as a town-

the same manner and be paid front the county .,
treasurer,;each councilman shallcreceive $1
for each session of the council attended by • ----- -- -

may attend as a member of the board of re-
view,but in no case shall any council-man re-
ceive more than$50 for one year; the solicitor
shall.receive$100 annually,the city clerk shall
receive$50 annually,the marshal$120 annual-
ly and fees for serving papers; the deputy-

Sec 5. That all officers elected or appointed
before entering upon their respective duties

Sec. 6. This ordinance shalt take effect and
be in full force if ve days from and after its
publication in the Ames fntelligencer and `
Ames TIMES,beet ly newspapers published at
