Norris Subject: please review - city candidates Attachments: DRAFT city candidates.pdf; cityclerk.pdf; citycndgde.pdf; filingofficer.pdf; cityclerkwksht.pdf [External Email] City Clerks- Please review the attached DRAFT of the list of city seats for the upcoming November 2 election. As far as the Auditor's Office is aware, this is the list of seats that will be on the ballot on November 2, 2021. If there have been vacancies and subsequent appointments we are not aware of, or we have made any errors, please forward the information ASAP. For seats listed "To Fill Vacancy" these are seats that are currently filled by appointment AND where the seat's regular term ends in 2023. Candidates for these seats must designate on their nomination petition and affidavit of candidacy that they are running to fill vacancy. Seats of this type are for the residue of the term (two years). Filling a seat by appointment does NOT re-set the terms for that seat. NOTE: this information CANNOT be changed on completed petitions. If a seat is currently filled by appointment AND the term is up for this election, candidates do NOT run to fill vacancy. The seat appears on the ballot as it normally would. I am also attaching the guides for city clerks for this election and your planning worksheet. I remind you that I have designated city clerks as the filing officers for city elections pursuant to Code of Iowa§376.4(1)(c). Please contact me or Deputy Auditor Kevin Norris with any questions. Thank you.
