HomeMy WebLinkAboutA022 - Resolution No. 09-520 adopted November 20, 2009 RESOLUTION NO. 09-520 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING ABSTRACT OF VOTES FOR THE REGULAR CITY ELECTION FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,the Regular City Election was held November 3,2009,for the offices of Mayor, Council Member Ward 1,Council Member Ward 3,Council Member At Large,and Hospital Board of Trustees; and, WHEREAS,the Regular City Election was further held for the public measures, "Shall the Board of Trustees of the Ames Public Library be composed of nine members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council for terms of three years beginning on July 1 of the year of appointment,each member being eligible for two full consecutive terms?"and, "Shall the Board of Trustees of the Ames Public Library have the powers and duties to employ a librarian and authorize the librarian to employ such assistants and employees as may be necessary for the proper management of the library, and fix their compensation; to remove such librarian by a vote of two- thirds(2/3)of such Board,and provide procedures for the removal of such assistants,or employees for misdemeanor, incompetency, or inattention to the duties of such employment; and to select, or authorize the librarian to select,and make purchases of library materials for the collection,furniture, fixtures, stationery, and supplies for such library?"; and, WHEREAS, an Abstract of Votes was submitted to the City of Ames by the Story County Board of Supervisors and has been approved as submitted. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Abstract of Votes for the November 3, 2009, Regular City Election is hereby approved as attached hereto and made a part hereof by this reference.
