"Shall the Board of Trustees of the Ames Public Library have the powers and duties to employ a librarian and authorize the librarian to employ such assistants and employees as may be necessary for the proper management of the library, and fix their compensation; to remove such librarian by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of such Board, and provide procedures for the removal of such assistants, or employees for misdemeanor, incompetency, or inattention to the duties of such employment ; and to select, or authorize the librarian to select, and make purchases of library materials for the collection, furniture, fixtures, stationery, and supplies for such library?" I will be leaving here in a couple minutes to go to Nevada to do that. I am sure that you will recall the City Council on October 28, 2008, via Resolution No. 08-464, giving me direction to place the following measures on the ballot for the next regularly scheduled election. "Shall the Board of Trustees of the Ames Public Library be composed of nine members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council for terms of three years beginning on July 1 of the year of appointment, each member being eligible for two full consecutive terms?" "Shall the Board of Trustees of the Ames Public Library have the powers and duties to employ a librarian and authorize the librarian to employ such assistants and employees as may be necessary for the proper management of the library, and fix their compensation; to remove such librarian by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of such Board, and provide procedures for the removal of such assistants, or employees for misdemeanor, incompetency, or inattention to the duties of such employment; and to select, or authorize the librarian to select, and make purchases of library materials for the collection, furniture, fixtures, stationery, and supplies for such library?" I am sending this just as a reminder of the exact wording of the two measures that affect the Library. Diane Voss, City Clerk/Records Manager P. O. If so, could you email me a copy? I am working on some ballot prep stuff and it is easier to type up the ballot if I have a word document to copy into the ballot layout. Thanks in advance. Let me know if you have any questions. What do I have to bring to you to indicate the additional measure on the ballot? Would a copy of the Resolution directing me to add that language to the ballot suffice?
