HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Municipal Election - November 4, 2003 ABSTRACT OF VOTES Story County,Iowa We,the undersigned Members of the Board of Supervisors,and ex-officio Board of County Canvassers,for Story County,hereby certify the following to be a true and correct abstract of the votes cast in this county at the Ames Regular City Election held on the 4th day of November ,2003 ,as shown by the tally lists returned from the several election precincts. For the office of Council Member Ward 2 there were one thousand three hundred forty-seven , 1,347 votes cast as follows: Steve D.Goodhue received one thousand two hundred eighty-three, 1,283 votes. Scattering received sixty-four 64 votes. We therefore declare Steve D.Goodhue duly elected to the office of Council Member Ward 2 for the term of 4 years. For the office of Council Member Ward 4 there were one thousand two hundred twenty-three , 1,223 votes cast as follows: Riad G.Mahayni received seven hundred nineteen ,719 votes. Joe Paulson received three hundred seventeen ,317 votes. Matt Denner received one hundred sixty-seven 167 votes. Scattering received twenty 20 votes. We therefore declare Riad G.Mahayni duly elected to the office of Council Member Ward 4 for the term of 4 years. For the office of Council Member At Large there were four thousand five hundred thirty-six , 4,536 votes cast as follows: Mary Ann Lundy received one thousand five hundred thirty-five 1,535 votes. Matthew Goodman received one thousand five hundred thirteen 1,513 votes. Monte M.Parrish received one thousand two hundred fifty-three 1,253 votes. Nathan A.Johnston received one hundred thirty-seven 137 votes. Scattering received ninety-eight 98 votes. We therefore declare Mary Ann Lundy and Matthew Goodman qualify to be in a run-off election on December 2,2003. For the office of Hospital Board Trustees there were nine thousand four hundred eleven ,9,418 votes cast as follows: Sarah Buck received three thousand four hundred twelve 3,412 votes. Karl Friederich received three thousand fifty-seven 3,057 votes. Kenneth D.McCuskev received two thousand eight hundred thirty-nine ,2,839 votes. Scattering received one hundred ten 110 votes. We therefore declare Sarah Buck Karl Friederich and Kenneth D.McCuskev duly elected to the office of Hospital Board Trustees for the term of 4 years . Wayne E. Clinton, Jane E. Halliburton and Donald L. Toms present, with Chairperson Clinton presiding. Deputy Auditor Dani Dunham announced there were 37 provisional ballots cast for this election; 7 counted and 30 rejected per Iowa Code Section 49 because voters were not registered in Story County before the close of Voter registration deadline of October 24, 2003. Chairperson Clinton read the results of the elections for Ames, Huxley, McCallsburg and Zearing. The City of Ames will have a runoff election for one Council Member At Large position on December 2, 2003. Halliburton moved, Toms seconded to declare the canvas complete and certify the results of the election to the proper jurisdiction (on file at the Auditor's office). MCU.
