Dear Ted:
I hereby submit my resignation as the member of the Ames City Council from the 4`1'Ward,
effective January 2, 2003.
As you know, I am resigning to assume the duties of a member of the Iowa Senate. I have
greatly enjoyed my seven years service on the City Council. I am personally extremely grateful to
you, to the other members of the council with whom I have served, and to the city management and
staff, both for your personal friendship and for your exceptional dedication to the well being of the
people of Ames. I know that the city government remains in the good hands of outstanding public
servants.
I look forward to working with you and the rest of city government on behalf of the people
of this city in my new post. Please call on me at any time if I can assist the interests of the City of
Ames.
Re tfully sub tte
