The Honorable Ted Tedesco
Mayor, City of Ames
City Council Members
515 Clark Avenue
Ames, IA 50010
Dear Mayor Tedesco and City Council Members:
RE: HOTEL/MOTEL TAX
This is to confirm Iowa State University's willingness to reimburse and pay the cost of a
special election to be held in the City of Ames before the end of this academic year
regarding the proposed increase in the Hotel/Motel Tax for the purpose of making
improvements to Hilton Coliseum. The use of the increased tax is outlined in certain
agreements that are being executed between the City of Ames, Iowa State University,
the Memorial Union and the Ames Visitor and Convention Bureau.
It is my understanding the cost of the election should be $8,000 to $12,000 and we are
prepared to pay these if so requested by the City of Ames.
We appreciate the City's willingness to cooperate in placing this matter before the
citizens of Ames with the goal of improving facilities that are important to maintaining
the competitiveness and quality of life in our community.
Very truly yours,
o _
