RESOLUTION No. 5344
Canvassing and declaring the results of the
election on the issuance of Bonds for the
Acquisition of a Site for a New City Hall.
TMEREAS, this City Council did heretofore, at a regular
meeting on the y t day of 1968, order that a
special municipal election to be held in and for the City of Ames, Iowa,
on the `i day of No e� e:° , 1968, there be submitted to
the qualified electors of said City the following proposition:
Shall the City of Ames, Iowa, acquire a site for
a new city hall in and for said City and contract
indebtedness for such purpose not exceeding
$100 ,000 and issue bonds for such purpose not
exceeding $100,000 and levy a tax annually upon
the taxable property in said City of Ames, Iowa,
not exceeding four-tenths of a mill per annum
for the payment of such bonds and the interest
thereon?
and
WHEREAS, the election on said proposition was duly and legally held
and the returns thereof have been certified and filed with this City
Council and duly canvassed;
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It and It Is hereby Resolved by the City Council
of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
Section 1. That it is hereby found and declared that the election
on the following proposition:
Shall the City of Ames, Iowa, acquire a site for
a new city hall in and for said City and contract
indebtedness for such purpose not exceeding
$100 ,000 and issue bonds for such purpose not
exceeding $100,000 and levy a tax annually upon
the taxable property in said City of Ames, Iowa,
not exceeding four-tenths of a mill per annum
for the payment of such bonds and the interest
thereon?

said proposition at said election was to than sixty per cent
(60%) of the total number of votes cast for and against said proposition
at said election, and that a record of the aggregate ballots cast on
said proposition is hereby made as follows:

Section 2. That the total number of persons voting at said election
as shown by the registration lists was
Section 3. That all resolutions and orders or parts thereof insofar
as same may be in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed and this
resolution shall become effective immediately.

depose and certify that I am the duly appointed, qualified and acting
City Clerk of the City of Ames, in Story County, Iowa, and that as such
Clerk I have in my possession or have access to the complete corporate
records of said municipality and of its Council and officials, and that I
have ,carefully compared the transcript hereto attached with the aforesaid
corporate records and that said transcript hereto attached is a true,
correct and complete copy of all the corporate records in relation to
the canvassing of the results of an election held in said City on
November 5 , 1968, on the question of issuing Bonds
for the Acquisition of a Site for a New City mall of said City in the
aggregate amount of $100,000.
I further certify that the proposition presented in the aforementioned
election, or any portion of that proposition, has not been submitted to
the electors of the City of A:ies, Iowa, within the six months preceding
the aforementioned election.
