HomeMy WebLinkAboutA027 - Resolutino No. 08-406 adopted September 9, 2008 RESOLUTION NO. 08-406 RESOLUTION APPROVING PAYMENT FOR TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT EASEMENTS FOR RAW WELL WATER TRANSMISSION PIPELINE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, in the 2007-2012 Capital Improvements Plan (CIP), a raw well water transmission pipeline was scheduled to be started FY 2007/08,and,currently,a single 24-inch water line delivers water from 10 wells in the Southeast Well Field and the Hunziker Youth Sports Complex Well Field; and, WHEREAS, with the expansion of wells in those areas over the last two decades, that line is no longer able to adequately carry the full capacity of these wells, and the City's water supply is also vulnerable to disruption with only one line to the water treatment plant from these wells; and, WHEREAS,the 2008-2013 CIP includes$4 million for engineering,easements,permits,and construction of the Raw Well Water Transmission Pipeline Project, and the City has entered into engineering services agreements with FOX Engineering, Inc., for both Phase I and Phase II; and, WHEREAS, in accordance with state law,the Council confirmed its intent to proceed with the project and acquire the necessary easements on March 25, 2008, and staff has used appraisals conducted on parcels in which easements are needed as the basis for initial offers to the property owners in obtaining those easements; and, WHEREAS,agreements have now been reached with all affected property owners for a total of seven permanent and temporary construction easements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the payment for temporary and permanent easements related to the Raw Well Water Transmission Pipeline Project is hereby approved.
