HomeMy WebLinkAboutA002 - Resolution No. 02-573 adopted November 12, 2002 RESOLUTION NO. 02-573 RESOLUTION APPROVING EASEMENT FROM AMERIGAS FOR RELOCATION OF 14" WATER MAIN ON DAYTON AVENUE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the City and the consulting firm of Snyder &Associates have been working with the area businesses on a plan to build a viaduct over the Union Pacific railroad crossing on Dayton Avenue; and, WHEREAS,the viaduct construction required relocation of an existing 14"water main crossing the Union Pacific Railroad(UPRR) from the east side of Dayton Avenue to the west side of Dayton Avenue; and, WHEREAS, the water main relocation started 200'south of Pullman Street and ended 300'north of the UPRR; and, WHEREAS,the relocation of the 14"water main between Pullman Street and 300 feet north of the UPRR has been completed; and, WHEREAS,between Pullman Street and 200 feet south of Pullman Street,the 14"water main was to be located between the electric substation security fence and the bridge approach retaining wall; and, WHEREAS,when considering the need to maintain proper clearances from underground electric,overhead electric,the retaining wall and other utilities,it was determined that the water main should not be routed through this corridor; and, WHEREAS,an alternate route was found starting at 200 feet south of Pullman Street,then west across the north 15'of AmeriGas, then north across the City maintenance yard to Pullman Street; and, WHEREAS, AmeriGas was contacted and provided the easement; and, WHEREAS,the appraised value of the easement is$6,000,and AmeriGas accepted the appraised value (funding to be allocated from the Dayton Avenue Reconstruction Project). NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the easement from AmeriGas for relocating a 14"water main for the Dayton Avenue Reconstruction Project is hereby accepted.
