KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
That Story County,Iowa,by action of its Board of Supervisors,hereby grants unto the City of Ames,
Iowa,a municipal corporation,its successors and assigns,the perpetual right to construct,install,
operate,and repair an automatic traffic control signal and all appurtenant cables and devices upon,

8/29/95
The Board of Supervisors met in regular session on 8/29/ �• a.m. in the Board Room
at the Story County Courthouse. Jane E. Halliburton, L6 Larson, Fred L. Mathison
present with Chairperson Mathison presiding.
Halliburton moved, Larson seconded to approve the consent agenda as follows:
1)to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of 8/22/95;
2)to approve a)a pay adjustment for Valerie Tendall, jail cook, $7.58/hour, effective
8/6/95, b)a pay adjustment for Rod Bingham, deputy sheriff, $1,015.20 biweekly,
effective 9/3/95, c)a pay adjustment for Craig McKinney, deputy sheriff, $1,256.00
biweekly, effective 9/3/95, d)a pay adjustment for Shawn Slezak, deputy sheriff,
$1,160.00, effective 9/3/95, e)a pay adjustment for Matt Cutts, deputy sheriff,
$1,256.00 biweekly, effective 9/3/95, f)a pay adjustment for Constance Paul,

Community Life Program for the Continuing Education Program for $400.00 (7/1/95 to
6/30/96) ;
5)to approve Utility Permit 96-08 to GTE Midwest, Inc., Grinnell, (location of audio
lines on S27 from the NE corner of Section 28 north 1448 feet, Nevada Township; and
6)to approve Road Closure Resolution 96-10 for crossroad culvert, Section 22, Richland
Township.
Motion carried unanimously (MCU) on a roll call vote.
County Engineer Del Jespersen opened the following bids for the following two projects:

Chairperson Mathison requested that the bids be reviewed and Engineer Jespersen return
with recommendations.
Doug Hertz, RR, Nevada, asked about supervisor's service on Iowa State Association of
Counties committees. Mathison stated that he served on the Corrections and Law
Enforcement Committee and Halliburton (along with Recorder Sue VandeKamp) serves on the
County Administration and organization Committee.
Chairperson Mathison recessed the meeting at 9:50 a.m. and reconvened at 10:22 a.m.
County Engineer Jespersen reported that the earlier bid for Project L-U-195--73-85 alone
was $40,000 more than the low bid for the same project when combined with Project L-F-184-
-73-85. The lowest bids on the two projects today was only 5% higher than the estimate.
Larson moved, Halliburton seconded to accept the recommendation of the county engineer and
accept the bid of low-bidder Dormark, Grimes, for Project L-U-195--73-85 ($126,074.09) and
Project L-F-184--73-85 ($87,322.76) . MCU.
Larson moved, Halliburton seconded to adjourn at 10:25 a.m. MCU.
