HomeMy WebLinkAboutA002 - Council Action Form dated September 27, 1994 Item # 3Ll Date: September 27, 1994 COUNCIL ACTION FORM SUBJECT: VACATING WATER MAIN EASEMENT ACROSS LOTS 9 & 10, BLOCK 4, KINGSBURY ADDITION, AMES, IOWA. BACKGROUND: In 1953, the City acquired a water main easement described as "beginning at the SW corner of Lot 10, Block 4, Kingsbury Addition to Ames, Iowa, thence north 15'; thence east 280'; thence south 15'; thence west 280' to the point of beginning. This easement and water main exists under the proposed new car wash building that is being constructed north of Jiffy Lube. In order to construct the building, the water main is being relocated to an area between the car wash and Jiffy Lube by the developer. A new easement has been acquired covering the water main's new location. The owner has requested that the City vacate the original easement and staff agrees that the east 270' of the easement can be released. The west 10' of the easement has to remain for City crews to maintain a fire hydrant that is being installed. MANAGER'S RECOMMENDED ACTION: It is the recommendation of the City Manager that the City Council approve the vacation of the east 270' of the water main easement that crosses Lots 9 and 10 of Block 4, Kingsbury Addition, Ames, Iowa.
