RIGHT-OF-WAY PERMIT AND EASEMENT
Carpenter Oil Company, a Corporation formed under the laws of
Ion, in consideration of the sum of one dollar, receipt of which is hereby
acknowledged, hereby grants to the City of Ames, Iowa, a Municipal Cor-
poration, its successors and assigns, the perpetual right to construct, re-
construct, repair, maintain and use its electric lines, poles, anchors and
other similar equipment or any part thereof for the sole purpose of convey-
ing electrical current for power and lighting purposes underground and over-
head of the real estate described as follows:
From the southwest corner of Block 48, 4th Addition
and land in the southwest one-quarter of Section Z,
Township 83 North, Range 24 West, thence West 31
feet, thence North 140 feet to the point of beginning of
a 3 foot easement along the West side of Gilchrist
Street and extending on North 56 feet.
The drawing attached and dated 17 October 1966 shows
the easement as a shaded section, and is a part hereof.
The foregoing rights are granted upon the express condition that
the City of Ames will assume liability for all damage to the hereinbefore
described property caused by said City's failure to use due care in its ex-
ercise of the granted rights.
