We, REINHARD FRIEDRICH and WELLA FRIEDRICH, husband and wife,
of Story County, State of Iowa, in consideration of One Dollar
and other valuable considerations, receipt of which is hereby
acknowledged, do hereby grant to the City of Ames, Iowa, a munici-
pal corporation, its successors and assigns, the perpetual right
to construct, reconstruct, maintain, and use its electrical lines,
consisting of poles, wires, overhead or underground cables,
fixtures anchors, and other similar equipment or any part thereof,
for the sole purpose of conveying electrical current for power
and lighting purposes, together with the right to extend to any
telephone, electric or power company the right to use jointly
with the grantee any pole placed pursuant to the provisions hereof,
together with the right to trim any trees where necessary to
secure adequate clearance for the safe operation of electric lines
upon, underground or adjacent to that certain piece of real estate
hereinafter described as follows, to-wit:
The East Ten (10) Feet of Lot Thirty-one (31) of
West Campus Village Addition to Ames, Story
County, Iowa,
The foregoing right is granted upon the express condition
that the City of Ames, Story County, Iowa will assume liability
for all damages to the hereinbefore described real estate caused
by the said City's failure to use due care in its exercise of the
granted right.
