Re: $170,000 General Obligation Municipal Improvements Bonds

Dear Diane:
Earlier this year, your City Council held a hearing on the Issuance of General. Obligation
Bonds in an amount not to exceed $11,700,000 :For the purpose of financing improvements to
streets, storm sewers and the municipal waterworks system. I understand from Duane Pitcher
that the City also wants to include funds in this bond issue for improvements to the municipal
electric system and sanitary sewer system. Because these purposes were not included in the
original bond hearing held last March, the Council must hold a hearing to make it possible to use
bond proceeds for these additional purposes. Accordingly, I have prepared and enclose
proceedings to be used at the August 11, 2009 City COL11161 meeting to set August 25 as the date
for a hearing on the proposal to issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not exceeding
$170,000.
The documents enclosed include the following items:
X.':' Resolution fixing the date, time and place of the meeting at which it is proposed to
hold a hearing and take action to authorize issuance of the Bonds.
The form of notice of hearing is set out in Section 2 of the resolution, and an extra copy is
enclosed for delivery to the publisher. Please insert the time and place of the hearing in both the
resolution and the notice.

publisher's affidavit of publication with a clipping of the notice as published,

The notice must be published not less than 10 nor more than 20 days before the inecting
date set for the hearing, in a legal newspaper which has a general circulation in Ames. Please fax

As soon as possible after the City Council meeting, please return one fully executed copy
