The Honorable Mayor Ted Tedesco and Ames City Council
Office of the Mayor
City Hall
P.O. Box 811
Ames, IA 50010
Dear Mayor Tedesco & City Council Members:
On behalf of the Ames Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, we support a bond
issue for a third fire station. As our community grows, so does the need for safety for all
residents and businesses. The second fire station was built in 1969. Since then the city
has grown by 68% in size and by 29% in population. As Ames continues to grow and
expand, it is important that rescue crews are able to reach emergencies in all parts of
town in a fast, efficient manner.
The Chamber is dedicated to maintaining the economic vitality of the community. A
third fire station is critical if we want to remain a strong and vibrant community. We
appreciate your efforts in making our community a better place to live.
Sincerely,
Tom Pohlman
2001 President
