Ryan City Clerk City Hall Post Office Box 811 515 Clark Avenue Ames, Iowa 50010 Re: Ames, Iowa $5,460,000 General Obligation Corporate Purpose Bonds, Series 1997A Our File No. 419370-17 Dear Sandra: We have prepared and enclose the necessary proceedings to carry out the hearing on the captioned Bonds at the City's May 13 Council meeting and also to set June 10 as the date for the bond sale. Please note that these proceedings provide for sealed bids to be received and canvassed at 1:00 p.m. on the sale date and for the Council to meet at 7:00 p.m. that night to consider bids received and to award the Bonds. The proceedings enclosed are as follows: 1. Minutes of the Council meeting to provide for the hearing, followed by the resolution determining to proceed with the issuance of the Bonds and fixing the time and place for the sale, followed by the Notice of Sale of Bonds. An extra copy of this notice is enclosed for delivery to the publisher.' 3. Certificate attesting the transcript. 4. Certificate as to the publication of the Notice of Sale, to which must be attached the publisher's affidavit of publication with a clipping of the notice as published. DORS EY & WHITNEY L L P Page 2 The Notice of Sale must be published at least once, not less than 4 nor more than 20 days before the date set for the sale, in a legal newspaper located in Story County or in a contiguous county. As soon as possible after the Council meeting, please return one fully executed copy of all of the completed pages in these proceedings, except the certificate attesting to the publication of the notice (the last page of the proceedings). Please return that page to us after you have received the publisher's affidavit with respect to the notice. We also look forward to receiving the completed transcript of the April 22 meeting.
